Goldstein Reunion

On Sunday 21 June, Jo Freeman attended a reunion of members of the Goldstein family, who were all descendant's of Jo's great grandfather Max Goldstein.

From the original 12 children 3 died in infancy and 9 survived, of which 2 went to South Africa. 6 of the siblings were represented at the party hosted by David Goldstein at his home in London. Our older members will remember Dora Halpern, Hilary's mother and Jo's grandmother who was the 11th child.

Some Ramonim (silver adornments for teh Torah scrolls) dedicated to Max Goldstein were discovered in the now defunct Woolwich shul and the plan is to give them to Chatham Memorial Synagogue for safe keeping. Susan Goldstein will present them at the civic service in October.
