Appeal

"Lets be inclusive"

As a grade 2* listed building, it is very important to keep up a regular programme of repairs and maintenance to the fabric of the synagogue. In addition to this, more substantial remedial work is required every 5-7 years and major structural work is required every 12-15 years.

We are currently assessing the work which will need to be done over the next 12-18 months. Regular donations and annual appeals all help to build up funds for this work but the amounts collected are never enough, especially in view of the fact that the income from our small community barely covers our runningcosts, icluding a substatial amount for insurance and regular repairs and maintenance.

In the past we have been fortunate to supplement the appeals with various Heritage Grants. It is an awesome responsibility for the Synagogue Trustees to raise sufficient funds to ensure that we are able to maintain the Synagogue in its present condition so that it can be enjoyed by future generations.

In addition, as seen in the panel on the right, a major priority at the moment is to raise enough money to install a new entrance to the synagogue for wheelchair access.

Online Donations

With JustGiving.

It is now possible to make online donations to Chatham Memorial synagogue via JustGiving. Due to the high costs of running and maintaining this beautiful synagogue, all donations are gratefully received.

By using this method, the synagogue will be able to automatically take advantage of Gift Aid
