Over the past few months we have been undergoing a comprehensive program of repair and renovation to the Synagogue. This was exacerbated by the collapse of the pediment at the front of the building last Summer. A
major appeal was launched to pay for the work though thankfully the collapsed pediment was covered by insurance.
The money collected from the appeal and from a Heritage Grant has allowed all the work to the outside of the buildingto be completed and the final result can be seen in the photograph on our home page. However
further structural work remains to be done and this will be carried out in the next few months.
Furthermore, in a historic building such as our beautiful synagogue, there is an ongoing requirement for maintenance and remedial work every 5-7 years. We have therefore launched a further appeal to raise an amout of
£160,000 in order to ensure that we are able to maintain the Synagogue for future generations.
If you would like further information about the appeal please email our treasurer at jon@chathamshul.org.uk
